Later in the afternoon the Funerary or Black Procession winds through the main streets of town. This is an extremely solemn and silent procession with Roman Soldiers, Christ with a Cross, and groups of men and women in black carrying on their shoulders the statues of the major figures involved in the Crucifixion story. This is a large, long and impressive event.
